February 6-9, 2020
Greetings on behalf of the Department of Music at Southwestern Adventist University! We have the pleasure every year to host an exclusive Festival for High School and Academy musicians. The 2020 festival features a variety of opportunities for instrumentalists and vocalists, including the opportunity to perform a World Premiere at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas. In addition to the festival ensembles, elite musicians may audition for a chance to win a music scholarship. Students that audition have the chance of being selected as a Scholarship Finalist and will have their transportation, food, and lodging paid for and the opportunity to perform in a Showcase Recital on February 5, 2020, at Southwestern Adventist University.
This year the Festival continues its tradition of bringing both musical masterworks and new music to the stage. Following the premieres from Eriks Esenvalds (2017), Kim Andre Arnesen (2018), Craig Courtney (2019) American composer Brandon A. Boyd will be the featured composer at this year's Southwestern Music Festival. His music will be featured in multiple ensembles and he will be at the festival to work with the musicians as they prepare his newest work for the concert. Please explore the website for audition information and feel free to contact any of the clinicians with any questions you may have.
Blessings and we hope to see you in February!
